Flea & Tick Remedies

Anybody who owns a furry loved one be it a cat or a dog, knows the fear the word fleas or ticks strike into the pet owner when they hear it. Fleas and ticks can carry deadly diseases that not only can harm your pet, but can also be passed on to humans if bitten by the fleas or ticks.

It’s best to prevent your pet from getting fleas and ticks instead of having to deal with getting rid of them once they have them. A flea infestation can be real pain to bring under control and can actually spread around the house to humans.

The best way to prevent fleas and ticks is to first keep your pet clean by giving them regular baths. If you have a cat, most cats don’t like baths so you can used special cat wipes which you can get in the pet store. We use these on our cat and she loves them. She seems to think we are a big cat giving her a grooming.

Once you have done what you need to keep your furry friend clean, next you want to use flea and tick preventive agent. There are several on the market but we have found that Frontline works best for our pet and it also has the least number of pet reactions to it. Some of the other preventatives on the market have a record of causing bad reactions in certain animals.

It’s good to always brush your pet and pay attention to what is going on with them. Ticks are pretty easy to spot when you’re brushing them and fleas leave black flecks in the animal’s ears. If the fleas are big enough, you can also see them and of course another sign is if you pet is constantly itching.

If you use preventive flea and tick remedies and keep your pet healthy and clean, you should not have any problem with fleas or ticks.

Don’t think that Fleas and ticks just come around during the summer because they can be present any time of year so make sure you use the preventive remedies at least once every month or so.

We’ve created this site so teach you a little bit about fleas and ticks and also provide you listings to where you can get the flea and tick repellants at discount prices because buying them in the pet store can be costly.
